The team traveled to Concord, New Hampshire to play their first conference match. They started out Saturday morning with a match against Paul Smith College of New York. The UMM squad started out shaky winning the first set 25-23. The team came out strong in the next two sets and won 25-14 and 25-17. Next the Clippers played the host team, New Hampshire Tech. The team struggled against the NHTI team and lost the match in 3 sets, 25-19,25-18 and 25-16. The final match of the day was against Nashua Community College. The young NCC squad was no match for the UMM team. Coach Fritz used this as an opportunity to get the newer players some valuable game time. While the regular starters relaxed on the side line the younger players won the match in 3 sets, 25-17,25-11, and 25-17.
On Sunday the team traveled to Gorham, Maine to play against the University of Southern Maine. The Clippers came away from that match with another win. The team came out strong and took the first two sets 25-8 and 25-9, USM came back and won the third set 25-23 before the Clippers took the match by winning the final set 25-9.
The Clippers record is now 3-2. Their next game is Scheduled for Sunday in Presque Isle where they will meet up Unity and the host team Presque Isle. Their first home game will be Wednesday Sept. 21st against Maine Maritime Academy.
