The 2010 season will be Turini's (Gannon University, 97) sixth season as the head coach of the Clipper soccer program. Tony has successfully led both the men's and women's programs including nine conference playoff appearences and three trips to the conference tournament finals. He was named the Sunrise Athletic Conference Women's Coach of the year in 2006 and 2007 and the men's coach of the year in 2008
An experienced club soccer coach and coaching director, Turini also brings collegiate championship-level playing experience to UM-Machias. Before coming to Machias, Turini was in Carbondale, Ill., where he coached the Southern Illinois Storm U-19 boys' club soccer team. He also served as an admissions counselor on the undergraduate admission staff at Western Illinois University.
Prior to his work in southern Illinois, Turini was a coach for the Edinboro (Pa.) Regional Soccer Club for six seasons, and served as coaching director during his final year with the organization. He also served as an assistant women's soccer coach at Edinboro University for three seasons. During his coaching career, Turini has worked soccer camps across Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Illinois.
Turini, originally from Carbondale, IL, is a 1997 graduate of Gannon University in Erie, Pa., where he received his bachelor's degree in psychology. He was a three-year letterwinner for the Golden Knights from 1993-1995, and was a member of Gannon's 1993 team that reached the national semifinals of the NCAA Division II men's soccer championship.
Turini received his master's degree in student personnel services from Edinboro University in 2001. He currently holds both a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Class B coaching license, and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Coaching License.
In addition to his coaching duties, Turini also serves as an admissions counselor at UM-Machias.
