Clippers sign Solares

(Machias, ME)    The University of Maine at Machias men's soccer team has signed its first recruit for the 2012 season.  Mike Solares signed a letter of intent to play for the Clippers next year.  Mike last played for San Bernardino Valley College where he was the team captain and earned all conference honors.

Prior to playing at San Bernardino Valley College, Mike played at Schurr High School, helping lead them to a Los Angeles County C.I.F. Championship as a freshman.  He was twice named to the all league team.  He played club soccer for the Upland Celtics in the California Coast Premier League.  Solares also trained in the U15, U16, and U17 US ODP National team pool.

Coach Turini speaks highly of Solares.  "It is very exciting to have a player of Mike's caliber coming to play for us next season.  He should be able to come in and make an immediate impact on our program."   With the addition of Solares, the Clippers look to improve on their 13-7-1 season last year.
