University of Maine
at Machias Athletic Director Brac Brady announced today that Skip Alley has
been selected to be the coach of the women's basketball program. Skip is a graduate of UMM receiving his Bachelor's
degree in Marketing and Management in 1991.
Skip is no stranger to athletics in the state of Maine. He played point guard on two state
championship teams and two Eastern Maine runner-up teams
while he was a student at Jonesport-BealsHigh School. Upon finishing high school he went to HussonCollege where he played golf and
basketball before transferring to UMM after his sophomore year. Skip is very civic minded, he has been a Boys
Scout Master for eight years, served on the Beals School Board for ten years,
and continues to serve on numerous local boards. Skips coaching background includes coaching
multiple sports at various levels. He
has coached baseball for tee-ball, little league and grammar school teams and
he has coached soccer at the high school level. The last four years he has been the head coach of the girl's varsity
basketball team at Jonesport-BealsHigh
School.
Athletic Director Brac Brady said,"I am very excited to add
Skip Alley to our coaching staff. He
brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm for the sport of basketball and has a
personality for recruiting. The search
committee was impressed with Skip during the interview process and feel that he
is the right fit for the job. I look
forward to seeing him continue to move the program in the right direction."
Skip resides in Beals with his wife Donna. They have three children, Brittany, Matthew
and Ryan.
