(Scarborough, ME) The University of Maine at Machias Men's soccer team moves on to the conference championship game after a solid 4-1 victory over SUNY Canton Friday evening. Pat Corlis and Greg Dawson both scored goals assisted by Anthony Martiniano to give the Clipper a 2-0 lead in the first half. SUNY continued to battle with the Clippers until the 68th minute when Tom Erlenbach headed a ball back across the goal to Devon Whitbeck who buried it into the back of the net to put the game away for the Clippers.
Pablo Salas added another insurance goal in the 79th minute to put the Clippers up 4-0. Moubarak Agoro scored a late goal for SUNY to put the game at 4-1.
Clippers goalkeeper Kyle Lancaster had five saves on the night for the Clippers. The Clippers advance to the Sunrise Conference Championship game tomorrow to face the #5 ranked team in the NAIA, the University of Maine Fort Kent. The game will be at 4:00 PM at Scarborough HS.
