The men's basketball program at the University
of Maine at Machias is excited to
announce the signing of Darren Lucas to a letter of intent. Lucas is a transfer combo guard from Ocala,
Florida where he played for Central
Florida Community College
for one season.
While at CFCC Lucas served the team as a reserve guard and
has been working hard to develop his all around game. CFCC had an outstanding season finishing
21-11 in one of the toughest junior college states in the country. CFCC finished with a 9-1 record in the
Mid-Florida Conference which secured them the conference championship. CFCC lost in the state semi-finals to Chipola
College which was the number one
ranked team in the country at the time. Before attending CFCC, Lucas was a standout guard for Forrest High
School where he was a two year starter, team MVP and a Central Florida
All-Star. Coach Brady is excited to have
Lucas join the Clippers, "Darren comes to us very highly regarded by the
coaches at Central Florida. I look forward to working with him as he has
a reputation for being a hard worker. I
believe Darren will be successful in our league as he has been playing against
division 1 level talent this past year and has proven he can compete."
